SOUTHERN AFRICA TOUR: Kamte goes low in Barcelona
/noticias.info/ After a dismal opening 77 at the Peugeot Challenge R.C.G. El Prat, James Kamte knew he was in grave danger of missing the cut. He simply did what had to be done; dug in his heels and rallied back in style.
Kamte began his steady climb upwards with a birdie at the first, but immediately lost the advantage with a bogey at the next hole. Again, a birdie at the fifth was cancelled with a bogey at the sixth.
The 23-year old took the bit firmly between the teeth and went the rampage with birdies at the ninth, 10th and 11th to go to two-under. He had a minor setback with a third bogey at the 14th, but rallied back with another birdie at the par-4 15th.
Unable to erase a fourth bogey at the 17th with a birdie at the par-5 closing hole, Kamte signed for a second round two-under-par 70, but the pay-off was a share of 53rd on the cutline and two more days to get closer to the �19,200 top prize on offer.
Kamte�s compatriot, Anton Haig, lost the battle with the tricky the Real Club de Golf El Prat layout, said to be the most difficult course on the European Challenge Tour schedule.
