"The Barcelona Show Team's tour in U.S. should be delight to American fans.

This week's first-leg semifinal matches of the UEFA Champions League offer a number of compelling storylines, but none is as immediate to American soccer interests as whether Barcelona wins the seasonlong tournament.

Like Manchester United and Real Madrid in summers past, Barcelona announced last week it will showcase its trademark style to U.S. fans this August with a trio of friendlies in Los Angeles, Houston and New York. The seven-day preseason tour is being promoted by the MLS-backed Soccer United Marketing, and SUM would like nothing more than for Barca's Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o to arrive stateside as European club champions.

The most artful footballing side outside of the Brazil and Argentina national teams, Barcelona has effectively clinched its second consecutive Spanish League crown with five weeks to play. It's the only club among the four Champions League survivors -- AC Milan, Arsenal and Villarreal round out the field -- that can win its domestic league and Europe."
